At 36 weeks’ gestation, Jorge underwent a foetal-to-foetal blood transfusion from his twin brother Cristian, which left him with severe anaemia. Cristian was not so lucky and passed away. After 17 days in intensive care, Jorge seemed to be recovering well, but he was eventually diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Since then, we have been supporting him through various therapies and orthopaedic aids. We have a dream: that he will be able to walk and communicate. GAB is an association that fights against the mistreatment and abandonment of the Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz. This breed is used for hunting and when they are "no longer useful" they are abandoned. It is the same problem as with galgos and podencos, except that the bodegueros are not such a well known breed. The money raised goes directly to pay for the dogs' homes, which cost 100 euros per month per dog, plus countless veterinary expenses. Every euro counts to keep saving dogs.

We provide care and guidance to people living on the streets of Barcelona. We guide them towards a more autonomous life, covering their basic needs, providing social care and guaranteeing accommodation for those in the most vulnerable situations. There, we are witnessing extreme levels of acute malnutrition, the most serious example to date of the nutritional crisis that has been ravaging Sudan since the start of the war.

Syria is at a crucial turning point in its recent history after the fall of the Al-Assad regime, with many challenges still ahead. 14 years of conflict have left 7 mill. people internally displaced and 16 mill. in need of humanitarian assistance. With increasing movements of Syrian refugee families returning to the country with minimal resources, a critical socio-economic situation and a winter that further complicates the situation, immediate assistance is urgently needed to protect them.

I'm Martin, they call me Tintin, I'm 4 years old. I was born with some malformations and one of them was a cleft lip, for which they operated on me when I was 3 months old. They had given my parents full assurance that it would be a simple operation, but something went wrong and I ended up in the Ucip with mechanical ventilation and deep sedation, and one day, they accidentally extubate me and I went into cardiorespiratory arrest for 15 min, and because of that accident I have cerebral palsy.

The Douages sanctuary is the biggest sanctuary in France for farmed animals. Over 800 animals, saved from slaughterhouses or mistreatments, are now living a peaceful life at the Douages. The sanctuary takes care of sheep, goats, horses, pigs, cows, chickens... and many other animals. We only live through donations. Nous sommes une petite association de protection animale basée à Nimes dans le Gard. Nous recueillons beaucoup de mamans chats et leurs portées de chatons mais aussi des orphelins, des blessés, des sauvageons ou des malades... Cela engendre beaucoup de frais car les petits orphelins doivent être biberonnés, les blessés soignés, les sauvageons socialisés, et tous seront vaccinés, identifiés et surtout stérilisés. Al Sur de Etiopía, en una región rural y con muy pocos recursos económicos, se encuentra el Hospital de Gambo, hospital misionero que ofrece asistencia sanitaria a todos los habitantes de la región e incluso recibe a las personas más pobres de zonas alejadas al tratarse de uno de los hospitales más baratos del país. La población padece desnutrición severa, deshidratación, malaria, tuberculosis, sida, neumonía, meningitis, y son los niños la población más vulnerable y afectada.

Nuestra misión es muy clara: facilitar que niños y niñas en situación de extrema vulnerabilidad puedan crecer en un ambiente saludable, seguro y con las herramientas necesarias para construir un futuro mejor. Para nosotros, protegerlos significa sacarlos de las calles, alejarlos del maltrato, la explotación o el abandono, y darles un refugio seguro donde puedan estudiar, jugar y crecer sin miedo.
