The swifts begin to arrive coinciding with a season of rain and strong winds. This has terrible consequences for them, since after flying 9000 km from Africa they come with low body fat, and upon arrival they do not find enough food to recover. Many fall exhausted to the ground, in some cases injuring themselves. We managed to collect 20 swifts in a single day, although luckily some of them were not injured, and with rest and care they were able to fly again in a few days. Other birds affected have been turtledove or pigeon chicks, which fall from the nest due to strong winds. This last month we have received many injured chicks and adults, and also birds of other species, such as a nightingale that had collided with a glass. We have so few teamers that one month's fundraising is not enough to cover a bill for tenebrios (food we use for insect-eating birds, such as the swift), but we greatly appreciate your help. Material para curas y gastos veterinarios

A principios de marzo nos llegaba un pichoncito de tórtola turca que había sido atacado por un gato. Se encontraba en estado grave, con parte del cráneo al aire y varias perforaciones en el muslo y el ala. Nos temíamos lo peor, ya que las heridas causadas por mordiscos de animales suelen infectarse muy rápido por las bacterias presentes en la boca. Tras una larga lucha la pequeña ha conseguido sobrevivir y se encuentra fuera de peligro. Otra de las aves ingresadas recientemente ha sido la preciosa paloma marrón que veis en las fotos del proyecto. Llegó con ambas patas fracturadas y síntomas de viruela. El veterinario le colocó una férula para fijar el hueso, y poquito a poco va recuperando movilidad en una de sus patas. Este mes usaremos el dinero recaudado para pagar la factura veterinaria de la paloma y parte de los gastos que hemos tenido. Hemos comprado más material para curas, algunas medicinas y alimento para los pichones. ¡Gracias!
