The first heat wave has passed, leaving us with dozens of chicks who jumped out of the nest to avoid suffocation. In a single day, we received more calls than in the entire previous month, and some volunteers were simultaneously caring for more than 50 chicks at home. Most of them were swifts and house martins, many of which have already grown and been released. Currently, some pallid swifts are starting their second brood, and we are receiving fallen chicks that are just a few days old, but we are still enjoying a brief period of calm that will end as soon as temperatures rise again. El calor ha vuelto y estos últimos días estamos recibiendo muchos ingresos a diario. Ya casi nos hemos quedado sin alimento por la avalancha repentina de pollitos, así que entre hoy y mañana haremos un pedido de comida. Gracias a todos los que nos ayudáis cada mes con vuestro granito de arena, no recibimos ningún tipo de ayuda de las administraciones y sois el único ingreso fijo que nos permite seguir continuando salvando vidas. Ojalá llegue el día en el que seamos más por aquí y podamos tener reservas de alimento suficientes para cuidar de ellos con la tranquilidad de que no les falte de nada y que no tengamos que rechazar un ave por falta de recursos.
