Pakadora Association-PDA street cat colony care and management

Hello and welcome to our new Teamers :)
We are having the busiet year ever so your support means so much to us so we can continue our work .
We have 2 new colonies to care for and 2 new houses and fencing to be paid for around these houses. The fencing is needed to ensure the cats can eat and sleep in peace and are safe from dogs andother preditors .
Our monthly costs for food , parasite and Flea/tick fever and sundries are now over a thousand euros a month . We have vet billls and sterilsations on top of this so we are constantly trying to raise funds. Your support is much appreciated.
we have rehomed 39 kittens so far this year from external situations mostly abandonedment :( all our colonies are sterilised so we have had no kittens for 3 years! We have also rehomed one adult cat a mum of 3 kittens now with one of our caretakers being spolit !
We sterilsed ,treated and rehomed 7 dogs so far this year! they were found abandoned which is shocking that so many people of all nationalities abandon dogs and cats here despite it being a crime.

We are all volunteers and we are were recently made finalists at the Algarve Business Awards in two catogories Contribution to charitible causes for the 3rd year running and our first finilist place for pride of the Agrave ! we are delighted. proud and humbled to get this far out of 1,900 entries here in the Algarve.

Hello dear Teamers
2024 was a very busy successful year Our supporters helped us sterilise 120 feral cats, feed 210 cats plus several external cat colonies, provide cat housing , emergency veterinary care & planned operations , Monthly parasite treatments. Donations and fundraising helped us. We even rehomed 32 kittens& cats ! We also built a rehabilitation unit to rehabilitate strays and post operative cats. We built a fenced retreat for a colony that was in danger, so they are safe for life.
We were nominated again for The Algarve business awards Contribution to Charitable causes and were finalists again being runner up ! We were nominated for the Animal star awards in the UK and were finalists for international animal charity being awarded Highley commended. So we are really proud of our team of volunteers that help us .
Everything we do is to help reduce the suffering of feral and stray cats here in the Algarve. We are all volunteers . Your donation helps us do this . However, the last two months of 2024 we were hit with unexpected veterinary bills which took up most of our funds. Funds which we were going to use for food, treatments ect and on building 2 more T10 cat houses after Christmas. Its raining so hard here today and these poor cats have nowhere to shelter. I see them lying under the grass in the bushes, its so sad. They get cold and then get ill. They have a kind caretaker who feeds them, but they may not go to the feeding station as they don’t want to move during the wind and rain. We have a wonderful volunteer who build the houses, but we need funds for the materials. We have everyday expenses that we need to continue to care for 210 cats . Could you please help us share our charity so we can have more Teamers ? Every euro really does help us reduce their suffering of these poor cats that did not ask to be born onto the streets to a hard life. Your continued support means so much.

Life on the street is hard for cats. Over our time here, we’ve seen first-hand that street cats have nowhere to sleep, nothing to eat, and are often subject to abuse from those who don’t want them around. They get injured and often killed from dog attacks and hit by cars, and cases of cat colonies being poisoned have even been known. Several animal diseases are rife throughout the Algarve, and there is also a huge Feline HIV issue here, spread further by mating and sometimes injuries from fighting.
We make a difference to the lives of the cats. We have 2 sterilizing campaigns at the moment . We feed and manage 7 street cat colonies, that's 120 cats! We support other animal welfare organisations because together we are stronger! Thank you for supporting us so we can protect the street cats.
