El Sindigato

El Sindigato formed in 2018: 3 neighbours, driven to improve the lot of a local 30+ feral colony. Once the colony was stabilised through CER (2021), the scope broadened. Results to date: 200+ adoptions, 90+ sterilisations/interventions——Given the volume of work & new challenges in the barrio, from 2026 a sister asoc, Xé Gats, will focus on the street/CER, el Sindigato on fostering/adoptions ——Both groups continue caring for our beloved colony. Thanks to you all, we cover 50% of their food needs.

Care of street cats in Valencia city

We work on two levels to help stray cats. - local colonies and community cats are cared for and managed using the TNR approach (trap, neuter, return) - for those cats whose temperament or circumstances make them suitable for adoption, we find them a safe, responsible, and permanent home Both adoptive and streets cats are given veterinary care, temporary shelter, and food. In the absence of comprehensive and effective government action, street cats rely solely on voluntary neighbourhood groups like ours for a dignified life with a minimum level of well-being.

Archie—padre pródigo?
Mirando nuestro archivo de fotos de la colonia, nos dimos cuenta de que Archie—el gato mayor recientemente introducido por la perdida de su hábitat en el barrio—ya había pasado por la colonia hace 6 años. Hay fotos con fecha de enero 2020 de este macho forastero fuerte. En abril 2020, por casualidad, cayó en una de nuestras trampas y le llevamos al veterinario para ser operado. Tras su liberación, se fue, lo que es normal para un gato visitante.
Ahora, notamos también cierto parecido entre Archie y Harley. Dado que nacieron Harley y sus hermanos en mayo/junio 2020 (la última camada de la colonia) podría haber sido el padre, Archie. Igual por eso se ha adaptado si bien a la colonia, al reencontrarse con sus cachorros y su amante de antaño, Delilah. Quién sabe : )
