We’re clearing the way...
…for hotel cat Garfield and his little nose to breathe freely again.

Garfield is one of the many cats living in a colony in the south of Fuerteventura – a colony we lovingly care for as part of the EL CAPITÁN animal project. He’s a true character: calm, proud, always keeping an eye on the hotel grounds. But recently, something wasn’t right. He was wheezing, breathing heavily, clearly in distress.

The local vet feared a nasal growth – just like last year. Back then, a specialist came over from Gran Canaria. But this time, no quick appointment was available. So we packed Garfield into a carrier, boarded the ferry, and took him to the specialist ourselves.

Four volunteers, a ferry ride, maybe an overnight stay – and a whole lot of love. Luckily, everything went well: the mass was removed, and Garfield can finally breathe easy again.

After a short recovery in our foster home, Garfield is now back at “his” hotel – enjoying the sunshine, the fresh air, and his second chance.

But stories like Garfield’s are only possible with help.
Caring for stray cats means emergencies, vet visits, food, neutering – and endless dedication.

Every little donation helps us keep going.
