La Leucemia infecciosa felina (FELV) es un retrovirus que se incorpora al material genético de la célula, lo cual lo hace difícil de tratar. El virus ataca a los leucocitos, debilita el sistema inmunológico del gato. No existe cura para la Leucemia, pero existe una vacuna preventiva que ayuda a evitar el contagio. La infección puede causar inmunosupresión, anemia y enfermedades tumorales (linfomas). Los costes de veterinarios de estos gatitos son muy altos. TODOS nuestros gatos son LEUCEMICOS.

Fundación Bigotes lo formamos un grupo de personas, voluntarias, comprometidas desde hace años con la protección animal, que mediante su unión buscan y pretenden mejorar la vida de los gatos comunitarios. Nuestra actividad se centra en la aplicación del método CER (Captura, Esterilización y Retorno), rescate de gatos y adopciones. Todo lo recaudado ira para sufragar los costes de esta labor. En 2015 comencé mis andanzas en la protección animal, y llevo desde entonces luchando sin parar por ayudar a todo aquel que esté en mi mano. Dedico el 99% de mi tiempo libre al control de colonias felinas, a acudir a las llamadas de emergencia de gatos que recibo y a curar en casa a todos los rescatados que requieren atención veterinaria. Todo lo recaudado va íntegro para pagar las facturas y gastos generados de estos rescates, y en FB encontrareis actualizaciones de toda la labor que hago.

En la Asociación tenemos gatos especiales, por enfermedad o accidente. Tenemos Aena que por atropello se quedó ciega, Lolita se quedó Paralítica por atropello tiene la L6 de la columna aplastada y no tiene operacion, pero eso no la impide ser feliz. Tenemos tambien a Brenda que nació con un problema neurológico que la impide caminar bien. Laia es cieguita por un herpervirus. Lucia era una gatita normal, hasta que un día la dispararon el los ojos dejándola totalmente ciega, perdido los dos
