The Aladina Foundation is building the largest pediatric gym ever created inside a Spanish hospital, at Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca in Murcia. This space will let us fully implement our Physical Exercise Program. Research shows that supervised physical activity improves quality of life and reduces side effects during cancer treatment. The gym will serve all pediatric patients and offer programs for parents and healthcare professionals.

The Aladina Foundation is a Spanish nonprofit that provides comprehensive support to children and teens with cancer—and their families—at 22 public hospitals. EPICkids is Aladina’s first internationally funded research project—a 5-year study on how the Mediterranean diet and nutrition impact treatment side effects and outcomes in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and certain brain tumors. Led by Columbia University and IARC/WHO, it involves hospitals in Spain, Italy, and Greece. The goal: create evidence-based nutrition guidelines to help improve pediatric cancer care.
