Life for Javea's street cats can be challenging and without controlling the population it rapidly grows. (One female cat can give birth every four months to four kittens!) As a legal, official non-profit organisation we use the humane method of trap, neuter and return to try to prevent so many kittens being born on the streets. More than 6000 cats have been sterilised to date. We also help feral/street cats in distress, ill or injured and have a team of volunteers who feed our many colonies.

Welcome to the SCAN Team. On the Costa Blanca in Spain, we rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abandoned and abused cats and dogs. Staffed entirely by volunteers and funded entirely by donations, every animal in our care is given shelter, food, medicine and enrichment to make it healthy, happy and ready for adoption. We successfully find loving forever homes for over 95% of SCAN Cats and SCAN Dogs.

We are “Aldea Felina” (village of cats), using our skills and love of felines to help abandoned cats in our community. We are an officially registered non-profit volunteer organisation, privately financed by donations. Through our “Trap, Neuter and Release” programme, we ease the suffering of hundreds of cats every year. At any one time we care for around 90 felines in our shelter. Gestionamos a varias colonias felinas protegidas en Torrevieja, cuidamos tanto de los gatos ferales como de los abandonados. Los alimentamos, les proporcionamos atención veterinaria, los esterilizamos, los desparasitamos, limpiamos su entorno. Buscamos ayuda para poder hacerles y mantener en condiciones sus refugios, desparasitarlos y a los que lo necesiten darles su tratamiento especial.
