George Orfanidis has been rescuing animals in Crete, Greece for 25 years. He has around 120 dogs at his shelter. George often takes disabled animals or those requiring expensive surgery or with an ongoing need for medication for diseases such as leishmaniasis, who might otherwise struggle to find the safety of a shelter and are hard to find homes for. This group was brought about to help the food banks. The idea is simple: if you join us, for each euro donated each month, the Occident Foundation will donate another to buy food, up to a maximum of 100.000 euros, while the unemployment rate remains higher than 15%.

GAB is an association that fights against the mistreatment and abandonment of the Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz. This breed is used for hunting and when they are "no longer useful" they are abandoned. It is the same problem as with galgos and podencos, except that the bodegueros are not such a well known breed. The money raised goes directly to pay for the dogs' homes, which cost 100 euros per month per dog, plus countless veterinary expenses. Every euro counts to keep saving dogs.

We are an animal shelter rescuing strays and abandoned animals in the island of Crete. We have been providing food, shelter, medical care, neutering and adoptions for almost 20 years. We currently care for around 200 dogs and 80 cats. We rely solely on donations and receive no government funding. Maria Fragkouli lebt in Ierapetra auf Kreta und kümmert sich liebevoll um streunende Hunde und Katzen. Maria hat derzeit mehr als 75 Hunde und etwa 25 Katzen in ihrem Garten und in Dog Village, dem neuen Tierheim. Sie kümmert sich auch um viele andere Straßentiere, versorgt sie mit Futter und bringt sie bei Bedarf zum Tierarzt. Maria braucht dringend unsere Unterstützung bei der Versorgung der Straßentiere. Die Tiere brauchen Futter, med. Pflege, Kastration etc. und ein liebevolles Zuhause.

Sasha takes care of 750 unwanted dogs .. – this has never been his dream - but the dogs are there, waiting for food, waiting for help.. every day..again. The dogs are kept in packs, they run free for 8 hours per day, they eat, rest and play together. They are safe. Safe from the dangers of the street and humans. We help them with food and basic medication. We also run a sterilization program and try to improve care for the old and weaker dogs and abandoned pups.
