Stichting We Are Here Lesvos zet zich met een aantal vrijwilligers in voor de straathonden op Lesbos. Wij proberen de leefomstandigheden te verbeteren door te zorgen dat ze gevoerd worden, zich niet voort kunnen planten, bescherming krijgen tegen ongedierte en dat ze droog kunnen slapen op een veilige plaats in door ons gemaakte hokken. Honden die zich niet op straat kunnen redden, worden door ons herplaatst in Nederland. Gedumpte pups en kansloze straathonden krijgen zo een betere toekomst.

Deze groep is opgericht ter ondersteuning van 'Spaanse Honden in Nood' | Animal Care Espana. Deze organisatie, meer dan 20 jaar geleden opgericht door een Belgische dame, is gevestigd in Mijas (Zuid-Spanje) en redt honden van dodingstations. Het heeft permanent meer dan 500 honden in zijn 2 refugio's en zoekt fijne adoptiegezinnen voor hen in België en Nederland, na een grondige screening van de kandidaten. We are a family that takes care of approximately 60 colony cats in the Torrevieja area in Spain. Colony cats are cats that don't live in a house, but who call a certain place outside their home. We feed these cats and provide medical care. The costs per week for just food is around 40 euros, adding the medical care this is too much for us to fund. We also rescue sick or abandoned kittens and take them in our home to provide care. Once they are ready, we find suitable homes for them.
