Uncle Fergus’ street cat rescue Cyprus

Thank you to everyone for continuing to donate. We have 28 rescue cats living here currently at the small sanctuary who all need twice daily feeding, medicines, anti-parasite tablets and tick and flea treatments regularly. Along with the cats here we continue to feed and give medicine to the street cats in the small villages and the city and try to make their lives a bit easier and keep them healthy.

Barriga joined the small sanctuary last month. He's super friendly with both other cats and humans. We brought him to be neutered a few weeks ago and since then he has decided he prefers the luxury of sleeping inside the house instead of outside.

Alaska will not come to sleep in the buildings because of the other cats and instead stays in the hills behind the sanctuary. She gets brought a picnic everyday as she likes human company a lot. Hopefully before winter she will come down closer to the shelter.

Alaska has been here for 3/4 months. She was already neutered when found and is quite young. She is very affectionate around people but very nervous around the other cats.

This is Phoebe. Mister Phoebe ! . He has been at the sanctuary for nearly 6 months now and will still not let anyone touch him... some days he does not even like anyone making eye contact. He's quite moody and nervous but we persevere and give him extra affection and treats at mealtimes.

Hopefully someday in the near future we will be able to take Scaramanga to the vet for neutering and check up. He seems to be an old guy who has had a tough life and may have some underlying health issues.

Scaramanga appeared a few months ago and decided to make here his home after he was very impressed with the 2 meals each day. He is not very tactile but trusts the people feeding him now. He has suffered eye infections that have been dealt with by antibiotic tablets hidden in his food.

Little Raven has already made a good friend and protector in Drogo.

He appears in good health and is old enough to eat kitten soft wet food.

Raven was found last week abandoned in a bag on some wasteland. He is 2/3 weeks old and has come here to the small sanctuary to live.

Because of his injuries, Gio doesn't have full control over his bodily functions so needs a lot of absorbant pet flooring pads and medicines to try to strengthen his muscles. He is a happy and gentle boy and slowly getting better.

After a few weeks of isolation to let his wounds heal .. Gio has come to live here at the small sanctuary and although he is a nervous little guy he has stuck around and is comfortable with the other cats and dogs now.

Little Gio was found locally with awful injuries to his underneath and back area.. it looked to everyone like he had been hit by a car. He had big open wounds that were infected with worms and needed a long operation and lots of aftercare .. followed by another operation to remove his tail as it was sadly not recovarable.

Foirfe is now a bit bigger and although his back legs will likely never be fully functional, it doesn't stop him playing with his best friend Oisin ( Oisin was rescued a week after Foirfe, he was living beside a busy road and needed a safer envirnoment ). Both are now safe, happy, eating lots, causing mischief and will be neutered as soon as they are old enough.

Foirfe needs a lot of showers (which he hates!) because of his disability as he is not very good at using the toilet without making a mess of himself.

Tiny boy Foirfe was found all alone in a garden and his back legs were not functioning properly. He could barely stand and was dragging his back legs along the ground when he moved. X-rays at the vets did not show any breaks in his spine or bones. Foirfe came immediately to live in the small sanctuary here as he would not have survived long alone on the streets.

After the 3rd batch of medication Zeus has finally started to get better, no mucus for a week now, his energy levels have increased and he is enjoying life with his new cat-family. He is booked in this week for neutering and some neccessary teeth removal surgery. We are doing everything to ensure 10 year old boy Zeus can have a relaxing retirement here in his new home.

Zeus was found 3 weeks ago in a bad state with constant mucus and low energy. He tested positive for FIV and has been on different antibiotics and steroids since then.

He will never regain mobility in his front leg but is currently living his best life.... and spending his best times on duvets and pillows. :-)

With medical care and a loving environment Noodle recovered and is now a happy, fluffy very affectionate boy with lots of big brothers and sisters to hang out with.
