We are excited to share an important new step in our journey.
Usko’s Nest Dog Shelter will now continue under a new name:
Usko’s Nest Animal Sanctuary

Over the years, our mission has grown beyond rescuing dogs and finding them new homes. While rehoming will always remain something beautiful, it has also become increasingly difficult and time-consuming.
Because Bosnia is not part of the EU, many strict regulations and complicated procedures are involved in safely rehoming dogs to families in other European countries. In addition, it has become challenging to find reliable partner organisations and trustworthy adopters who can provide the same level of understanding, patience, and lifelong care that many of our rescued dogs need.
Many of the animals arriving at Usko’s Nest carry emotional and physical trauma and need a stable, safe environment where they can heal at their own pace. For this reason, Usko’s Nest has gradually become more focused on being a permanent sanctuary and safe haven for animals who need lifelong care, protection, and love.

Today, Usko’s Nest is a safe haven for many different animals in need — including DOGS, cats, ponies, donkeys, and other rescued animals who have nowhere else to go.
The new name better reflects who we are and what we stand for: a place of safety, healing, compassion, and lifelong care for animals who have experienced neglect, fear, and hardship.

While our name is changing, our mission remains exactly the same — to protect, care for, and give love to animals who deserve a second chance at life.
