Finca la Castellana in San Miguel de Salinas opened in May 2000 to rescue abandoned, injured and physically abused animals; nurse them back to health and find them loving homes. In March 2009 we achieved registration to become a non-profit charity No.CV-01-051201-A. This allows us to raise much needed funds to cover costs. At the Finca we care for 270+ animals costing in excess of 4000€ per month. If you join our group you'll help an animal have a better life. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Our charity is funded entirely by donations which we use to help the continuous stream of abandoned, injured and abused animals that arrive at our gate. 100% of all donations are used to provide food, vets care, accommodation and whatever is needed to give them the best possible care. We find loving homes for most but sadly some are so badly damaged psychologically they have to spend the rest of their lives in the safety of the Finca. Our Cattery at Finca la Castellana
Since January 2025 our dedicated team have welcomed 127 cats and kittens (mainly kittens) into the cattery.
Recently, we were asked for help rehoming several cats. We only had space for 8, but agreed to help and arranged to collect the cats. There were a lot more animals than expected and we finally ended up with 23, so needed to house some of them in one of the stables until we had room in the cattery. Although they had been fed regularly, they had been alone for some time and were very scared and hid in every space they could find - so it was quite a challenge to catch them all.
They are Scottish Folds, Scottish Straights and British Short Hair - ranging from 4 years old to 6 weeks.
All of them have had health checks and any necessary treatment and are now loving and happy to be around people and other cats.
So far 10 have been adopted within Spain, Finland and Holland - the rest are still waiting for their forever homes. They are all absolutely adorable, so if you would like to adopt one, please check our Cattery Facebook page for more information.

In the last few weeks I have been contacted by a few of our teamers asking how they can donate more than 1€ each month.
With all the bars and restaurants being closed, the last couple of months have been extremely difficult for fundraising. We are always happy to hear about new ways of raising funds, so if you have any bright ideas please get in touch.

Alternatively why not visit one of our charity shops where you can hand in your unwanted items and browse all the items we have for sale. We have 2 shops in the area - 1 can be found in SAN MIGUEL on the main street, near the traffic lights just past Bankia. The other one is on the ground floor of the Filton Centre LOS BALCONES.
