El Refugio del Burrito is actively involved in causes that encourage the application and improvement of existing laws regarding animal welfare and the promotion of education and awareness campaigns about responsible equine ownership and expert care.

For more than 30 years, Scooby has been providing shelter to abandoned and mistreated animals. In the 90's we brought to light the atrocities inflicted on galgos (Spanish greyhounds). At present, we are the biggest shelter in Spain, currently homing more than 1000 dogs and cats and 200 farm animals. Our resources are very limited and we depend mainly on the donations. Defaniva es una asociación sin ánimo de lucro cuyo objetivo es rescatar animales abandonados o en riesgo de sacrificio en las perreras de Valladolid. No disponemos de instalaciones físicas por lo que les ubicamos en casas de acogida de voluntarios o simpatizantes. Apenas tenemos socios y los donativos que recibimos son muy puntuales.
