Vitadacani ODV is a voluntary not-for-profit association which works for the protection of animal rights. It fights to combat abandonment, vivisection, the exploitation, maltreatment and trade or trafficking in animals of any kind (for hunting, the circus, the fur trade, animal fighting, force feeding)and tackles the issue of strays. It also promotes a vegan culture.

I live in the province of Agrigento, Sicily. My mission for many years has been to save hundreds of dogs that unfortunately are abandoned every year and too often mistreated. Oasi Ohana is a shelter for abandoned dogs or those who have spent their lives as strays, and is located in Santa Margherita di Belice, in the province of Agrigento. Ohana means family. Family means that no one is abandoned. Or forgotten. It was founded almost 10 years ago by Chiara Calasanzio, now 30, who transformed her family's country house into a real sanctuary for dogs. Today it houses 70 dogs.

We are a free animal shelter where around 80 animals removed from the production chain live. At the La Capra Campa farm goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks, quails, pigs, donkeys, cattle, dogs and cats live free. They are our travel companions!
