El Parco Faunístico Piano dell'Abatino ofrece refugio a cerca de 450 animales autóctonos y exóticos que provienen de situaciones problemáticas. Cada semana compramos para ellos fruta y verdura fresca por un valor de aprox. 700€. ATO is the first rehabilitation center for primates in Benin, with over 90 residents (2025). The center, in collaboration with the forestry authorities, rescues primates held illegally to rehabilitate them for life in the wild and eventually release them into their natural habitat. Three species have already disappeared from the country! Deforestation, poaching for bushmeat, and the sale of babies as pets are the main causes of primate decline in Benin.
