¿Qué le ocurre a tu cuerpo si no funcionan las mitocondrias correctamente? pues que los órganos dejan de funcionar, se van perdiendo capacidades como andar, comer, respirar... la vida de la persona está en riesgo. Las enfermedades mitocondriales pueden afectar a cualquier persona y a cualquier edad. No existe cura en la actualidad, solo tratamientos paliativos. Ayúdanos a seguir investigando, el camino es largo pero tenemos todas nuestras esperanzas en la investigación.
At AEPMI, we offer financial support to various research projects. In 2025, and since 2023, we have provided a total of €40,000 over three years to the project "Translational and Precision Medicine for Patients with Primary Mitochondrial Diseases: From a Personalized Model in Fibroblasts and Induced Neuronal Cells to Therapeutic Trials in Patients" (MitoCure). Final results will be available in the spring of 2026. In 2023, we provided €16,750 to the Biomedical Research Foundation of the 12 de Octubre Hospital in Madrid for the "Spanish Registry of Mitochondrial Diseases" project. AEPMI has been continuously funding scientific research since 2010. We have invested over €500,000 in research; all of this would not be possible without the contributions of people like you. Thank you for your support, the road is long but we have all our hopes set on scientific research.

Continuamos en el proyecto que se está desarrollando en Sevilla de “Medicina traslacional y de precisión para pacientes con enfermedades mitocondriales primarias. Desde un modelo personalizado en fibroblastos y células neuronales inducidas hasta el ensayo terapéutico en el Paciente” .
Este proyecto comenzó en 2023 y está previsto el final de proyecto en la primavera de 2026. Marcha todo bien en cuanto a las previsiones, los tratamientos se están poniendo y los resultados provisionales , a falta de su confirmación, son alentadores tanto para técnicos como para las familias. Os contaremos más novedades con la finalización del proyecto. Gracias a todos por hacer posible que la investigación avance.
