Syria is at a crucial turning point in its recent history after the fall of the Al-Assad regime, with many challenges still ahead. 14 years of conflict have left 7 mill. people internally displaced and 16 mill. in need of humanitarian assistance. With increasing movements of Syrian refugee families returning to the country with minimal resources, a critical socio-economic situation and a winter that further complicates the situation, immediate assistance is urgently needed to protect them.
Syria is currently experiencing a crucial turning point in its recent history after the fall of the Al-Assad regime, with many challenges still ahead. Nearly 14 years of conflict have left 7 million people internally displaced and 16 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. In the aftermath of recent events, one million people have been displaced, most of them women and children. In addition, since September, half a million people have crossed from Lebanon to escape Israel's bombardment. With an increasing number of Syrian refugee families returning to the country with minimal resources and winter further complicating the situation, immediate assistance is urgently needed to protect them. It is estimated that more than 8,000 additional emergency kits containing medicines, clean water, food and basic items are needed to be urgently distributed to the displaced. In addition, there is an urgent need for more shelters and repair of damaged houses.

400.000 SIRIOS REGRESAN AL PAÍS AL TIEMPO QUE AUMENTAN LAS NECESIDADES
Según estimaciones de ACNUR 400.000 sirios han regresado desde los países vecinos desde la caída del régimen de Assad el 8 de diciembre de 2024. Durante este mismo período, más de 1 millón de personas desplazadas internas dentro de Siria también han regresado, lo que eleva el número total de sirios que han vuelto a casa a más de 1,4 millones.
Para que estos retornos sean exitosos y sostenibles, los sirios necesitarán apoyo con refugio, medios de vida, protección y asistencia legal. El riesgo es que, si no se recibe la financiación adecuada, puede que no se materialice la proyección de 1,5 millones de
retornos durante este año, y que aquellos que regresen puedan verse obligados a tener que desplazarse de nuevo.
La ayuda humanitaria y el apoyo a ACNUR y los actores humanitarios son cruciales para lograr la estabilidad.

Según el último informe de Tendencias Globales de 2022 de ACNUR el 52% de las personas desplazadas a la fuerza en todo el mundo (108 millones) proceden de tres países: Siria, Ucrania y Afganistán.
