Nearly 12 years of war in Syria have left a country devastated, and worse, millions of lives destroyed. But now a devastating earthquake of magnitude 7.6 hits the northwest of the country and the southeast of Turkey on February 6, leaving more than 4,000 lives in both countries. From the Islamic Relief Foundation we are on the ground providing cash grants so that those most affected can meet their immediate needs.

Islamic Relief has historically had a vision: “Inspired and guided by our values, we envision a caring world where communities are strengthened, social obligations are met, and people respond together to the suffering of others.” On February 6, 2023, a devastating earthquake struck southeastern Turkey and northwestern Syria, an area already affected by more than a decade of conflict. In Syria, more than 4,500 people were killed and over 10,000 were injured. The earthquake exacerbated the suffering of more than 2.7 million internally displaced people in the region. Our teams on the ground have begun a massive housing reconstruction project for 999 affected families (more than 4,300 people). Since then, you have supported the completion of 145 homes with your donations. Each house houses a family of five and is theirs for life. Permanent homes are 65 square meters each.

Hola mis queridos teamers!

Espero que estéis empezando el año con buena salud :)
La verdad es que cada vez que me llegan noticias de la situación en Siria, las comparto con vosotros con mucha ilusión al ver cómo se van empleando vuestras ayudas. Durante estos meses, el invierno está siendo muy muy duro, la verdad y las necesidades cada vez más intensas, es por eso que llevamos meses distribuyendo material de abrigo como mantas, ropa, colchones, carburante, etc.. a las cientos de familias que viven en los campamentos del norte de Siria y que apenas disponen de recursos para vivir.
Gracias a vuestra solidaridad humana pueden aliviar, aunque sea un poquito, su sufrimiento en estas duras condiciones. Y como siempre os digo, después de más de 15 años, no me canso de agradeceros vuestro apoyo y os animo a que sigáis compartiendo la situación pese a que no sea tan visible en los medios de comunicación.
