Nearly 12 years of war in Syria have left a country devastated, and worse, millions of lives destroyed. But now a devastating earthquake of magnitude 7.6 hits the northwest of the country and the southeast of Turkey on February 6, leaving more than 4,000 lives in both countries. From the Islamic Relief Foundation we are on the ground providing cash grants so that those most affected can meet their immediate needs.

Islamic Relief has historically had a vision: “Inspired and guided by our values, we envision a caring world where communities are strengthened, social obligations are met, and people respond together to the suffering of others.” On February 6, 2023, a devastating earthquake struck southeastern Turkey and northwestern Syria, an area already affected by more than a decade of conflict. In Syria, more than 4,500 people were killed and over 10,000 were injured. The earthquake exacerbated the suffering of more than 2.7 million internally displaced people in the region. Our teams on the ground have begun a massive housing reconstruction project for 999 affected families (more than 4,300 people). Since then, you have supported the completion of 145 homes with your donations. Each house houses a family of five and is theirs for life. Permanent homes are 65 square meters each.

Hola teamers!
Espero que os encontréis en el mejor de los estados :)

La verdad, es que cada vez que recibo una actualización de los compañeros sobre el terreno en Siria me hace mucha ilusión compartirla con vosotros.

Hace unos meses y gracias a vuestra ayuda y a la de otros muchos donantes, se brindó asistencia vital al Centro de Cirugía Cardíaca y al Banco de Sangre en Idlib. Este apoyo incluyó la cobertura de los costes de cirugías cardíacas que salvan vidas para pacientes necesitados, el pago de los salarios del personal médico especializado y el suministro de equipo quirúrgico y medicamentos esenciales.

Paralelamente, también se pudo proporcionar al Banco de Sangre unidades de sangre seguras y gratuitas, equipo médico necesario y hacer controles periódicos para garantizar la seguridad de las donaciones de sangre que muchas veces escasea. Esta iniciativa forma parte de una serie más amplia de proyectos médicos implementados por Islamic Relief en toda Siria, con el objetivo de mejorar los servicios de salud y aliviar el sufrimiento de los pacientes en medio de circunstancias difíciles.
