We are students at La Sapienza in Rome and since 2017 we spend our holidays in Kenya as volunteering teachers in a secundary school. The school tries to give girls the possibility to continue studying and be able to choose not to marry, not to undergo genital mutilation and not to start working when they are 14. Together with students and friends we built up an association to help The Irene School Maralal and the girls, who have only one dream.....STUDY!
Ogni anno migliaia di ragazze finendo le scuole elementari, nella Contea Samburu nel nord del Kenya, hanno solo una possibilità: sottoporsi alla mutilazione genitale ed essere date in sposa come seconde o terze mogli a uomini molto più anziani. LIrene School Maralal vuole dare alle più motivate e meritevoli la possibilità di sfuggire a questo destino ed inseguire i loro sogni. Poter continuare a studiare per cambiare in meglio la loro comunità. Bastano 50 teamers per sostenere una ragazza!

We have been working hard this year to finish the transition to the new charity system introduced in Italy, and we have made it!!! We are now officialy an "Ente del Terzo Settore".
At the same time, we are expanding our reach. Beyond sponsoring students and following up on our previous students, we are working hard to build our own school with our Kenyan partner Nielimishe Foundation. The ILEPU school! We have now bought the land and hope to start constructions soon!!
