My name is Nikos Tsikalakis and I am the owner of Bronx Familia Animal Shelter. For the past 10 years I have dedicated my life to save the stray and abused dogs of Crete, Greece. I currently have 250 dogs, one horse, two sheep and a goat… times are often hard financially, but I believe that we together can make a better world for the animals. Savethedogsbih is a non-profit organization in Bosnia. We rescue dogs that have been abandoned, abused and chained up. For over 6 years, the founder Bruno Jelovic and his team have been caring for over 1000 dogs. Our dogs are not kept in kennels, but live on our ranches where they can just be dogs. We are committed to growing and plan to build more ranches to accommodate more dogs.

We are an animal shelter rescuing strays and abandoned animals in the island of Crete. We have been providing food, shelter, medical care, neutering and adoptions for almost 20 years. We currently care for around 200 dogs and 80 cats. We rely solely on donations and receive no government funding. Maria Fragkouli lives in Ierapetra on Crete and takes devoted care of stray dogs and cats. Maria currently has more than 75 dogs and about 25 cats in her garden and in her apartment in Dog Village, the new shelter. She also takes care of many other street animals and provides them with food and, if necessary, takes them to the veterinarian. Maria urgently needs our support in caring for the street animals. Please help. The animals need food, med. Care, neutering etc. and a loving home.

SpecialDogs e.V. stands for sustainable animal welfare at home and abroad – with a focus on Romania and Germany. In Romania, we pursue effective animal welfare through spay/neuter programs, education, political advocacy, and carefully selected adoptions. In Germany, we run the “New Start” project: here we take in dogs in need that would otherwise have no chance – animals that have already bitten or are facing euthanasia.

As per Guinnes Book of World Rekords the Smeura is bearing the mournful title of being the biggest animal shelter of the world. Around 5400 dogs and 600 puppies need around 2.7 tonnes food per day. The staff members are doing an inconceivable job - organizationally, physically and emotionally. Driving around with a castration van and pushing the clearing up of the locals. Every euro is needed.
