Our rescue is growing and we are hosting more and more tortoises that need care and space. To build the new enclosures and shelters, we do our best to save money and recycle. In fact, we salvage wood and other materials directly from landfills and give them a second life. However, there are a few key items we cannot recycle and must buy brand new to guarantee the safety and durability of the structures: wire mesh, polycarbonate for the shelter roofs, as well as screws and bricks for the bases. The wire mesh is essential to prevent the tortoises from escaping or predators from getting in, while the bricks, screws, and polycarbonate allow us to build sturdy, well-insulated shelters. The funds raised through this group will be used entirely to purchase these essential materials to complete the new enclosures and shelters. Thank you so much!
