We work together towards a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. El Refugio del Burrito is actively involved in causes that encourage the application and improvement of existing laws regarding animal welfare and the promotion of education and awareness campaigns about responsible equine ownership and expert care.

We are a multispecie animal refuge, we give home to more than 150 animals of 14 different species, all the animals who live here have come to us from abusive situations or because they had no other options. Our goal is that the animals that have arrived here have the best quality of life possible and with their stories people get to know them and understand that all lives matter.

Cada año 7.000 aves, mamíferos, reptiles y anfibios (casi veinte animales al día de media) ingresan en el Hospital de Fauna Salvaje de GREFA, en Majadahonda (Madrid), para ser atendidos de las más diversas lesiones o patologías. La prioridad de nuestros veterinarios y rehabilitadores de fauna, asistidos por el voluntariado de GREFA, es devolver a su hábitat natural a esta fauna, una vez que vuelven a alcanzar las condiciones idóneas para la vida en libertad. For more than 30 years, Scooby has been providing shelter to abandoned and mistreated animals. In the 90's we brought to light the atrocities inflicted on galgos (Spanish greyhounds). At present, we are the biggest shelter in Spain, currently homing more than 1000 dogs and cats and 200 farm animals. Our resources are very limited and we depend mainly on the donations.
