Proyecto "Sed de Vida" en Boayase (Ghana) - ONG Bonwe

In the village of Boayase (Ghana), there is no access to clean water at all, and the entire community relies on a river some 350 metres from the village as the only source of water. The water is contaminated with parasites, and villagers often contract water-borne diseases, such as typhoid. With your help!!! we will build in a Phase I, an electric pump as part of the infrastructure project of the Educational and Sanitary Complex Infrastructure project that Ong Bonwe is building there.

With the completion of Phases I and II of Thirst for Life, the community maintains the facilities.

NGO Bonwe Ghana, two years after construction, is cleaning and maintaining the well and its facilities.

In Boayase they have worked very hard to complete Phase I and II of the Thirst for Life project: - Phase I saw the completion of the drinking water well and the community has been drinking clean water since June 2022. Last year the University of Ghana sent technicians to analyse the drinking water and found that the sediments, although normal for use, were too high in some minerals. The study revealed that the facilities should be maintained and the waste cleaned at least once a year. - The budget provided to us by our chairman in Bonwe Ghana, Agyei Darko, is: Ghc 4800 (€369), broken down into tank cleaning=Ghc 1300, minor repairs=Ghc 1800, transport=Ghc 600 and labour=Ghc 1100. - In addition, repairs have to be carried out on the motorbike Ghc 800, equivalent to 62 €, corresponding to the replacement of the battery, chain, tyres and fuel. Total needed = 450 €.

Good afternoon, we have already begun Phase III of our Sed de Vida (Thirst for Life) project, which has become a large-scale project focused on water and ensuring that the village of Boayase has this resource available throughout the year.
On 7 and 8 November, a team of seven volunteers from Bonwe will travel to Ghana with a mission: to install a 126,000-litre tank to collect water in our village. The tank will be made of metal, a scarce and very expensive material in Ghana, which is why we approached the Granada-based company Ilurco SA almost two years ago, which holds the patent for the construction of demountable tanks that it installs all over the world. Last year, the company decided to donate 50% of the cost of the tank, and that, together with your help and that of our regular donors to this project, has made it possible for us to be telling you this now. Our tank will arrive between 1 and 4 November at the Port of Tema in Accra, and from there we must take it to Boayase, so that when it arrives our team will be there and it can be assembled in less than four days. We will keep you updated on this feat as we receive more information. For now, here are some images of the tank dismantled and packed before its departure from Ilurco SA and its transport to the Port of Algeciras, from where it left on Friday 28/10/25.
