Dera friends and supporters!
Every little donation helps and keeps us going forward!
THANK YOU for your support!
What happened in 2025?
40 of our dogs were adopted - some of them from our older residents!
Some local but mostly adoptions in Western Europe.
Two of them are actually in Finland- near the town of Santa Clouse.
At the same time more dogs were abandoned either near our premises or the area.
We took some of them, including of 13 puppies.
Puppies are the sweetest creatures!
But imaging caring for 13 of them - this is an exhausting job for a few months.
Puts a lot of pressure on the team.
However those puppies turned into delightful and very social dogs which is very important for adoptions.
What makes adoptions not easy is the fact that they are all to be very big dogs.
Volunteer help means a lot to a cause like ours.
We have had local volunteers, team buildings, company volunteering days.
They walked, groomed and played with our dogs. They helped with digging holes for dividing yards
During the hot months they helped us water the trees that we planted with the help by a few companies.
For a third year we rely on the volunteer help from young travellers from around the world too.
With the help of a local photographer and two volunteers we created our 2026 calendar.
It featured 12 of our 13 juniors.
Pleased to report that we sold out the calendars.
Via orders, a couple of local zoo shops and selling in front of one Mall in Sofia (which was a huge success).
Our contact with the people who purchased a calendar, donated or just stopped to pet our dogs was very inspiring and uplifting.
3 of those 13 juniors are already adopted as per the time of this post.
We took on Lisa, a local dog, badly bitten by dogs. She was in a very bad condition. Our Vet team started the treatment. Then, with the help of donations, we were able to send her to a clinic for additional care. Lisa made a great recovery from the wounds. No longer coughing or difficulties while breathing. She is still to be treated for next 9 months with Advocate for the heartworm disease that she was diagnosed with. But she is ready to be adopted and loved! Miracle!
We took Nadezhda 2 for a temporary shelter and care . She came from Veliko Tarnovo area. Saved by a local lady as the dog was shot with guns while pregnant. As a result she lost the puppies and is paralysed from the waist down. One of our staff members could not bare to see the dog suffering and not being able to walk. So she spent hours at home to assemble herself a wheelchair which Nadezhda 2 LOVES! The dog has an adopter from Germany who will fly over to take her home very soon.
Our Vet Ambulatory is open and charges less than the clinics.
Our initiative for companies ''Sponsor a yard'' was taken on by a few companies, big and small.
They donate 200 leva ( 100 euros) monthly for a year and have a board with the company details and logo attached to a yard of their choice.
One company suppors 5 yards already - HUGE THANK you!
If you come and visit our shelter - you will meet our wonderful and happy dogs and hear more stories of what happened during 2025.
Great! Thank you for this info <3

Dear friends and supporters, here is an update from our dog rescue center!
Our vet clinic re-opened in September and has been working on full speed. By giving very low prices, enough to cover our expenses, we give chance to people to help stray animals and to castrate them thus helping to reduce the population of stray dogs and cats.
Recently we took up on few new cases - Rozho and Vladi, both dogs suffered great neglect and abuse, both of them came to us emaciated and both of them had already given up faith they will live. Currently they are both feeling much better and are showering us with love daily. You can check our social media (Facebook and Instagram) Every Dog Matters for more details.
Recently Bulgarian police together with the animal welfare organization КАЖИ and BG Elves busted a couple who has been torturing and killing animals for over three years with the aim to create crash-fetish videos on demand and then sell the materials in closed group in the app Telegram. Such animal cruelty is unprecedented and our entire society demands changes our legislative system in order the abusers to receive a much severe penalties than the current law predicts. Every Dog Matters was invited together with other animal welfare organizations to consult the parties, that are part of our current parliament, in making changes in the current Animal Protection law. We take this task seriously as it is time the animal cruelty and abuse to end.
We are ever grateful to all of you who stand beside us and support our work and help us move forward! You make our mission possible. THANK YOU!

Our vet clinic is about to re-open in September! We are looking forward to helping many more stray dogs and cats in need by providing a highly-professional vet service on very low prices thus making it affordable to people who are taking care of stray animals. In order to provide even more vast services we recently added to our vet instrumentarium an ultrasound with doppler, an electric surgical knife, an infusion pump and a much bigger surgical light. All this costed us 12.500 euro! We will be covering slowly our bill and will pay it off in a year. And your support will be a huge help to make this happen! We are beyond thankful for your donation as every dog matters! <3
