Tierschutzbrücke München e.V. supports the Casa Cainelui animal shelter in the city of Timisoara in Romania. Approx. 300 dogs have to be constantly looked after there. In the animal shelter, however, they are already safe from the urban dog catchers and the killing stations. The regular castration projects on site also require a lot of commitment. George Orfanidis has been rescuing animals in Crete, Greece for 25 years. He has around 120 dogs at his shelter. George often takes disabled animals or those requiring expensive surgery or with an ongoing need for medication for diseases such as leishmaniasis, who might otherwise struggle to find the safety of a shelter and are hard to find homes for. We are an animal shelter rescuing strays and abandoned animals in the island of Crete. We have been providing food, shelter, medical care, neutering and adoptions for almost 20 years. We currently care for around 200 dogs and 80 cats. We rely solely on donations and receive no government funding. On the Greek island of THASSOS is a shelter, where two people live with 200+ dogs and some horses. By donating 1 Euro each month you can support them and contribute towards vet bills, materials for fence repairs etc. Suzanne has run the shelter she called the Gingerbread Sancuary, the registered charity FOS Thassos, for over 20 years. Stefan joined her in 2018. They both live with the animals 24/7 all year round.
