Actualmente cuenta con más de 100 perros y no recibe ningún tipo de subvención gubernamental ni municipal, contando tan sólo con las donaciones altruistas. APANOT nace del amor que Karmen y algunos voluntarios sienten por los animales. Este es el principal y único motivo por el que decidieron dedicar su vida a los perros y gatos que se encuentran desamparados o que son víctimas de seres irracionales. Su labor y dedicación no es tarea fácil, diariamente cuidan y protegen a unos 85 perros y 30 gatos que conviven, sin ningún tipo de lujos, en el refugio que muy humildemente construyeron en Icod de los Vinos.
