We work together towards a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. El Refugio del Burrito is actively involved in causes that encourage the application and improvement of existing laws regarding animal welfare and the promotion of education and awareness campaigns about responsible equine ownership and expert care.
El Refugio del Burrito es la primera subsidiaria europea de The Donkey Sanctuary, organización británica sin ánimo de lucro, que trabaja desde hace mas de 50 años por la protección del burro en el mundo. En la actualidad, El Refugio del Burrito alberga 210 burros y mulos repartidos en sus Santuarios de Fuente de Piedra (Málaga) y Bodonal de la Sierra (Badajoz).

El invierno llega a El Refugio del Burrito, llenando nuestros santuarios de actividad y entusiasmo por todo lo que hemos conseguido a lo largo del último año.

Want to wish you all at Refugio del Burrito FELIZ NAVIDAD Y NUEVO ANO!!!
I have been a Volunteer at the Manchester Donkey Sanctuary since 2005 so fully appreciate the hard work you carry out.
I have read about the improvements made to the sanctuary environment and I am sure the donkeys and mules are thoroughly enjoying their lives there in Spain.
Good luck to everyone in 2024! Maybe I can visit some time in the future.
