We work together towards a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. El Refugio del Burrito is actively involved in causes that encourage the application and improvement of existing laws regarding animal welfare and the promotion of education and awareness campaigns about responsible equine ownership and expert care.
El Refugio del Burrito es la primera subsidiaria europea de The Donkey Sanctuary, organización británica sin ánimo de lucro, que trabaja desde hace mas de 50 años por la protección del burro en el mundo. En la actualidad, El Refugio del Burrito alberga 260 burros y mulos repartidos en sus Santuarios de Fuente de Piedra (Málaga) y Bodonal de la Sierra (Badajoz).

Con la llegada de la primavera, en El Refugio del Burrito nos complace compartiros las últimas noticias y actualizaciones. Con vuestro apoyo, seguimos avanzando en nuestra misión de proporcionar un refugio seguro para nuestros 205 burros y mulos residentes, promover su bienestar y defender sus derechos.
Continuamos abogando por una protección legal más sólida para los burros y mulos. A través de la colaboración con autoridades, veterinarios, ONG y otros actores, trabajamos para mejorar los derechos y el bienestar de estos animales extraordinarios. Esto se debe a que no queremos ayudar solo a los 205 burros que viven en nuestros santuarios, sino que queremos mejorar la vida de los millones de burros y mulos que viven en España.

Want to wish you all at Refugio del Burrito FELIZ NAVIDAD Y NUEVO ANO!!!
I have been a Volunteer at the Manchester Donkey Sanctuary since 2005 so fully appreciate the hard work you carry out.
I have read about the improvements made to the sanctuary environment and I am sure the donkeys and mules are thoroughly enjoying their lives there in Spain.
Good luck to everyone in 2024! Maybe I can visit some time in the future.
