NIEMANDS HOND OF HOND VAN ONS ALLEN? Een teamingsactie voor het kunnen garanderen van voldoende voer (€ 12.000 - € 15.000 per jaar), vaccinaties, middelen tegen parasieten etc voor 130 zwerfhonden in een shelter in de bergen van Inha/Canedo (Santa Maria da Feira - Portugal). Velen zijn gered van dodingsstations en later, toen een nieuwe wet het doden verbood, zijn velen opgenomen van de straat doordat de gemeentelijke asiels de deuren sloten. Met alle honden heb ik een persoonlijke band.
Dick started in 2017 with DZG Canedo as representative with full mandate of the Dutch foundation DZG to help stray dogs and cats in Portugal. End 2020 he changed in good harmony DZG Canedo into an independent group ARC Canedo, with 3 volunteers and the same objectives on non-profit basis. In June 2021 he stayed internally in a hospital and then in a recovery center, due to a life-threatening bite from a tick. When he returned in July 2022 he was no longer able to physically take care for the animals, but he could still manage supplies incl. food, publishing etc.The payment receipts of food (the goal of the funding) have been sent earlier. The actual project is Sterilisation of Stray dogs with Freedom in Connection. After sterilisation the dogs may live free if there is no place in a shelter (the municipalities are not allowed to do), but they get all necessary care such as food, medical care and doghouses.
