Since 1997, Kalaweit has been working to save wildlife and forests in Indonesia. In Borneo, Sumatra and Siberut, the association purchases hectares of forest to save them from deforestation and enable animals to live in a protected habitat. These forests become communal forests protected by Kalaweit. The association also owns 3 care centers with over 315 gibbons, siamangs and Malay bears in need of the best possible living conditions.
