At GREFA, we rescue, rehabilitate, and release wild animals in distress back into the wild. But what about those whose injuries or other health issues prevent them from returning to their natural habitat? This is the case for 200 animals who are unable to care for themselves and have had to stay with us permanently. They are our irrecoverable animals, whom we care for every day for the rest of their lives. Will you help us ensure their well-being and give them a dignified life?
Large eagles, vultures, nocturnal birds of prey, tortoises, steppe birds, and terrapins are some of our illustrious, irrecoverable residents. We must guarantee them all basic necessities for any living being, such as food, cleanliness, and veterinary care. But irretrievable does not mean useless, far from it. On the contrary, these animals also perform an important function: Some participate in our captive breeding program, helping to prevent the extinction of endangered species. Others are part of our environmental education center, "Living Nature," helping us to raise awareness and educate about the problems and threats faced by wildlife. 200 lives that were once shattered and now depend on us to survive in the best possible conditions.
