We are a non-profit association (founded in 2012) of people affected by polio who are currently suffering from its long-term effects, including Post-Polio Syndrome. We raise awareness about polio, advocate for social and healthcare services for those affected, and strive to improve the quality of life of our members. One of our initiatives was the creation of a choir in 2019 with a strong therapeutic component. While now well-established, the choir is in need of funding to continue operating.
"Voice of Overcoming" is a project of the Malaga Association of Polio and Post-Polio Survivors that seeks to promote the inclusion and well-being of people affected by polio through choral singing and music. It fosters participation and social integration, improves participants' self-esteem and confidence, and provides a recreational and therapeutic activity that promotes both physical and emotional health and well-being. It is of utmost importance to improve lung capacity and costodiaphragmatic breathing; reduce stress and anxiety; strengthen self-esteem and confidence; and provide an opportunity to socialize and make new friends, combating loneliness.
