Founded in October 2018, Nima Sanctuary is Romania’s first farm animals’ sanctuary, currently hosting 27 truly happy cows, 15 pigs, 4 horses, 2 donkeys, 10 sheep, 5 goats, 23 chickens, geese and ducks, plus few dozens of rescue dogs and cats, living in a 10ha haven (divided in 4 locations) at the bottom of the Fagaras Mountains Southern slopes, on Valsan Valley.

As per Guinnes Book of World Rekords the Smeura is bearing the mournful title of being the biggest animal shelter of the world. Around 5400 dogs and 600 puppies need around 2.7 tonnes food per day. The staff members are doing an inconceivable job - organizationally, physically and emotionally. Driving around with a castration van and pushing the clearing up of the locals. Every euro is needed. Association reconnue d’intérêt général. Composée de membres des forces de l’ordre et de civils, tous bénévoles. Notre combat : lutter contre la maltraitance animale. Notre action commence dès le signalement, avec l'intervention des forces de l’ordre pour aider et/ou retirer l’animal en souffrance. Tout est mis en œuvre pour que nos protégés soient ensuite placés en familles d’accueil ou adoptés, pour éviter le placement en refuge. Notre plus belle victoire : leur offrir une vie meilleure !
