For the development of research without animal testing

The Pro Anima Scientific Committee is a French NGO created in 1989 promoting and funding non-animal methods, also called NAMs, helping to accelerate and improve research, drug discovery and toxicology. Pioneer in France, Pro Anima has published since 1994 Sciences, Enjeux, Santé, the only French magazine dedicated to non-animal research, with interviews with key players and an overview of the advances in NAMs. In 2013, Pro Anima founded the EthicScience Prize, which became the Descroix-Vernier EthicScience Prize in 2023, rewarding some of the most innovative research teams every two years. Pro Anima also coordinates a network of experts in NAMs and a series of “Science and Dialogue” discussion panels. Encouraging dialogue between operators and civil society on health issues, Pro Anima works at the French and European level.
