We are pleased to announce the launch of Seantience, a short documentary produced by Animal Ethics and directed by Xiana Castro, which delves into the sentience of aquatic animals. It has been selected at SUNCINE and awarded the prize for best cinematography in the animal documentary short film category at FICAA. Available in English, Spanish, and soon in Chinese. Seantience features interviews with prominent scientists and philosophers, who present recent scientific evidence about the sentience of aquatic animals: Eva Read and Jonathan Birch (ASENT, London School of Economics), Daniela R. Waldhorn (Rethink Priorities and Centre for Animal Ethics, Universitat Pompeu Fabra), Mart R. Gross (University of Toronto), Oscar Horta (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela). Seantience is an international campaign aimed at raising awareness about one of the most disregarded and exploited animal groups—those farmed in the largest numbers: aquatic animals raised for food.
