Barrios Orquestados is a project that seeks social integration through musical training and the democratisation of culture for populations at risk of social exclusion. The main activity consists of instrumental and choral training, taking the group as a base structure for personal development and social transformation in socially, educationally and culturally disadvantaged neighbourhoods in the Canary Islands, as well as in Tegucigalpa (Honduras) and Valparaíso (Chile). Barrios Orquestados creates children's orchestras, in this case, of fretted strings (violin, viola, cello and double bass) and woodwinds (flute, saxophone, clarinet and bassoon) and choirs of children, adolescents and their families. The participation of the beneficiaries allows them free and direct access to high quality musical training, regardless of their socio-economic situation.
