As per Guinnes Book of World Rekords the Smeura is bearing the mournful title of being the biggest animal shelter of the world. Around 5400 dogs and 600 puppies need around 2.7 tonnes food per day. The staff members are doing an inconceivable job - organizationally, physically and emotionally. Driving around with a castration van and pushing the clearing up of the locals. Every euro is needed. We neuter and rescue dogs in Romania, in Faget, Sighisoara and Lugoj. The biggest challenge this year is to buy a castration vehicle, only then will there be fewer dogs on the streets .. A dedicated veterinarian will drive from village to village with it and many dogs neuter and educate the population how important it is. The Vierbeiner in Not e.V. is a registered, non-profit animal welfare association based in Northern Germany. The association carries out castration projects for street dogs in Romania and rescues and mediates abandoned animals. Four-legged friends with a handicap are an essential focus. They rarely have a chance of survival in Romania, but they deserve a life worth living so much.

Der Tierschutzverein Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. kümmert sich um ca. 700-800 Hunde und Katzen in den nordrumänischen Städten Bistrita und Baia Mare. Wir versuchen die katastrophalen Bedingungen, unter denen die Tiere leben müssen, zu verbessern, initiieren Umbaumaßnahmen, stellen die medizinische Betreuung sowie Futterversorgung sicher und unterstützen die Tierheime mit Sach- und Futterspenden.
