Almo’s Story

In March one of our volunteers received a message on Facebook from someone who was concerned about a dog that seemed to have taken refuge in a squatter’s garden. For the following 3 days the property was staked out but this only caused our volunteer’s anxiety to grow. After speaking to Janette who was aware of all of this, it was decided to try and rescue him.

The only way to get to him was to jump the wall. His confidence was gained through voice and sausage and having managed to loop the lead over his head it was realized that this poor dog was probably blind. However, our volunteer was able to tuck him under her arm, leg it to the car and then back to the safety of the Finca where he was fed and given a warm bed.

The following day saw him visiting Tidy Paws Grooming Parlour so Anna could work her magic on him, and as expected, he walked out looking a million dollars. Then on to see the vet at Eduardo Pets for X-rays and blood tests. Very happy to report that he tested negative for all the Mediterranean diseases and has a healthy heart. He was covered in tics, had terrible ear mites and is confirmed blind, but nothing life threatening. Thank you to Bruno at Eduardo Pets for Almo’s ITV. Two weeks later he went back to check on his progress and plan his castration and hip X-ray. Bruno thinks he is around 12 years old. After all this excitement it was back to the Finca for three slap up meals, a warm coat, a cosy bed under the heat lamp, and lots of love from the volunteers.

So pleased to be able to tell you that this gorgeous boy has now been found a new home and can enjoy the rest of his life in a loving, caring environment.

Once again your donations have been put to good use giving a beautiful dog a better life. THANK YOU all for your much needed support.
